Four Mile House

We had a wonderful time at Four Mile House yesterday.  The students were spilt into two groups and experienced 5 different activities.  In the one room schoolhouse, the students learned how different lessons were in 1879.  They had to have a hygiene inspection before they entered class and had to write with chalk on slate boards.  The students enjoyed panning for gold and were very successful! We found out that doing laundry in 1879 was quite challenging!  Then after all that hard work, there was still chickens to be fed and boardwalks to be swept.  We had lots of fun playing pioneer games but found walking on the stilts was hard to master.  Finally we got to look around the oldest house in Denver and learn about its history.  We all decided we are happy that we didn't live in pioneer times!
